Peace - Christmas in July

Legal_blue_peace_christmas_in_julyI cannot believe I am doing Christmas cards in July and 100° outside, but I guess you have to start sometime LOL!

As much as I like to do a lot of detail work, I also like simple elegance. This card is just that, simple but still elegant.

Cut and emboss white cardstock with the Long Rectangles using the Wizard Die Cutting System, stamp/emboss “Pease” with Silver embossing powder, airbrush with Copic Marker.  On silver cardstock stamp/emboss using stamps from Flourished Elements stamp set, emboss with Silver embossing powder.  Cut and emboss silver foil using the Scalloped Long Rectangles.  Attach that beautiful ribbon and the NEW Self Adhesive Rhinestones from Flourishes!  Yep, they are just beautiful, and so many different colors to choose from….

Be sure and check out other Design Team member’s cards!

Leslie, Faith, Julie, Sharon, Susan

I should have more cards for you in the next few days.

Cinderella's Coach

Cinderellas_coach_new_one_2008_2I save every card I make on my little Flash Disk, and today I was looking at some of the projects I’ve made over the last two years (a lot!!). Last year at this time I was on Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen Design Team, and each month we had to follow a theme. In May 2007 the theme was Around the World in 80 Days! We then posted our cards into the member’s only gallery for viewing. I’m sure most of you have already seen this card, but I thought I would post it here today; it’s truly one of my all time favorites.

What better way to travel then in Cinderella’s Coach, Yes….A royal ride indeed!!!! This idea came to mind while looking through one of my old Walt Disney art books.

The large pumpkin from Carved & Candlelit was stamped on Blush Blossom cardstock, then stamped with the Essential Glue Pad from Eclectic Paperie, and covered with glitter.

The door was made with Fiskars Large Squeeze Punch, and a little heart brad used for the door handle.

The gold elements were made using French Mail, and Cherubs stamp sets from Crafty Secrets. On vellum cardstock using VersaMark, stamp the heart (door), pumpkin top, and both axles, gold embossing power, heat-set, and cut them out. For the wheels use the 1 3/8” circle punch, roll the edges in the VersaMark Pad, and gold emboss. The VersaMark Pen was used to make the spokes, and gold embossed. Punch wheel centers, and place gold brads.

Sponge Mellow Moss and Bashful Blue on Whisper White cardstock, stamp corners with stamps from French Mail. Attach white cardstock to Stella Ruby-Basic Grey from Eclectic Paperie, then to Gold cardstock.

Because of all the gold and glitter, I didn’t want to over embellish to take away from the coach, so I cut two strips of Stella Ruby-Basic Grey, and attached on one end of card. The “Once upon a time…” stamp was a great find at Michaels for $1.00, truly added the finishing touch to this fairytale card *wink*.

Stamps: Cherubs and French Mail from Crafty Secrets, Carved & Candlelit from Stampin’ Up! Reverse stamp - Unknown, Once upon a time… - Michael’s $1.00 stamp.

Cardstock: Whisper White, Gold, Vellum Cardstock - from Stampin’ Up! Stella Ruby-Basic Grey from Eclectic Paperie.

Stamp Pads: Mellow Moss, Black, Blush Blossom, VersaMark and Bashful Blue - all from Stampin' Up!

Misc.: Ribbon, Sponge, Gold Embossing Powder, 13/8” Circle Punch, Gold Brads - from Stampin’ Up! Fiskars Large Squeeze Punch, and Heart Brad - Unknown.Cinderellas_coach_new_one_2008_cl_2

Red Poppy

Flourishes_poppy_patch_black_white_I really like stamping with Flourishes new Poppy Patch stamp set, and I wanted to share another card with you.  Even though it is very similar to the other Poppy Patch card, I made before, changing the flower and cardstock color makes it very different.  That is what I enjoy about stamping, even thought you stamp with the same set of stamps repeatedly, a simple color change make each project so unique.

Using the Wizard Embossing and Die Cutting System, cut and embossed all layers of cardstock.  Sponge making sure your color is darker in the lower left corner and feather out. Color the stems with Old Olive and Always Artichoke markers, and Real Red for the flowers. Take your watercolor brush and feather the center of the flower, for a deeper red paint from the lid of your Real Red stamp pad. (I used a lot).  Follow the same steps for your side images, and color with markers.  Stamp your leaves using the same greens (lightly). Embellish - I love how the ribbon and button look on this card, Debbie Olson  posted a card a few days ago with it, and I couldn’t resist trying it on this card.

Supplies:

Stamps: Poppy Patch – Flourishes.

Cardstock:  Black, Whisper White – Stampin' Up!

Stamp Pads:  Always Artichoke, Old Olive – Stampin’ Up!

Misc.: Spellbinders Long Rectangle Nestabilitiy, Wizard Embossing and Die Cutting System, Real Red, Old Olive, Always Artichoke Markers, Sponge – Stampin’ Up! May Arts Sheer Polka Dot Black 3/8" Ribbon – Flourishes, Button – Michael’s.

Love - Crystal Clear Cardstock

Flourishes_lace_heart_transparencyToday's card was made using Crystal Clear Cardstock from Flourishes.  I have always loved this type of card, but never really made one, so this was a first for me, and I really learned a lot. The most important thing I had to remember is what you see from the front can also be seen from the back.

Using Blush Blossom cardstock, I stamped and embossed two hearts and cut them out, sponge.  Take one of the embossed hearts, trace around it (twice) again using blush blossom cardstock, and cut them out (not embossed).  Attach one of the embossed heart to the card front, and the other embossed heart to the card back.  Do the same on the inside of the card with the plain hearts.  All four hearts should line up so when you look at the front of the card, it looks like one heart. By doing this, you are hiding the tape that adherer’s all hearts to the Crystal Clear Cardstock. Stamp sentiment.

Along fold, punch holes about an inch apart, add lace starting from the bottom, and tie your bow.

Be sure and check out other Design Team member’s cards!

Leslie, Faith, Julie, Sharon, Susan.

Thanks, and have a great day ;-)

This is my card for Jeanne’s challenge today.  We had to make an animal card, because I do not have any animal stamps I decided to use one of the new Kittie Kits Cause a Scene sets called The Moose is Loose #2, that Moose is so darn cute!

I thought it best to link you directly to the tutorial Kittie made regarding this technique over on Splitcoaststampers here.  It is what I followed to make my card for you today.

I love learning new techniques, and this one is very addicting.  If you look at my card, you will see that I used the Nestie in the center.  That is because I was going to do something small since I have never tried anything quite like Kittie scenes.  However, once I got started and found out how much fun this was, I continued working the scene off the Nestie, to complete my card.

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Thanks, Linda

Note Box

June_altered_sunglower_2_box_editedThis was such a fun project to make, and I could not wait to share it with you.  This is another one of Spellbinders new dies being release next week at CHA–Summer.  It is called Sunflower 1, and perfect for using the Paper Tole Technique and you know how much I enjoy that technique!

I really tried to make step-by-step instructions that would be easy to follow, but I never imagined one sentence would do it!  However, that is pretty much the steps to follow.  To me the hardest part was painting the box because I wanted solid coverage and the box itself was white.  Nevertheless, if you do not need a solid color, or if you wanted a lighter color that would take the hardest part away.

Paint box inside and out, sponge with Chocolate Chip. Cut, emboss flowers, and label; sponge flower and leaves. Tie bow and glue in place, attach label.

Supplies:

Spellbinders: Wizard Embossing and Die Cutting System, S4 157 - Sunflower 1, S3 147 - Labels Trio. Cardstock: TR1233 Goldenrod, TR1232 Lemon Yellow, TR1207 Sherwood Green, TR1231 Cinnamon - WorldWin TreasuresStamp Pads: Pumpkin Pie, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip – Stampin' Up! Misc.: Bright Gold ArtEmboss Colored Foils - AMACO, Mini Glue Dots 3/16 - Glue Dotss, Zip Dry Paper Glue - Beacon Adhesives, Gold & Silver Pen – Zig,  Deep Burgundy Acrylic Paint – Americana, Approx. 5 X 5 Wooden Box, Hemp Cord -  Michael’s, Vintage Brads, Glitter – Stampin’ Up!

New Stamp Set’s being release by Flourishes today!!

Flourishes_poppy_patch_july_relea_2 I love this new Poppy Patch stamp set from Flourishes. It’s one of three new stamp sets being released today. I will post another card on Thursday and one on Friday this week so you can see the other two stamp sets now available.  They are just beautiful.

For this card I cut and embossed all three layers of cardstock.  With temporary tape assemble all layers together and sponge making sure your color is darker in the lower left corner and feather out. Stamp the large Poppy on a separate piece of white cardstock, color image with Copic Markers, cut out, and curled the edges up just a little.  Using dimensionals and glue, attach image to top layer of card.  Stamp both side images, and color with markers.  Using your leave stamp, stamp all layers (still taped together) starting in the lower left corner working up the sides and bottom (lightly). When finished tape all layers with permanent tape or dimensionals which ever you like, I used dimensionals.   Embellish and you’re done.

Be sure and check out other Design Team member’s cards!
